Note: This extension is in Private Preview.
This extension is complementary to the Foundry Toolkit for VS Code extension and is used to seamlessly connect VS Code to remote compute resources within your Microsoft Foundry project.
Once connected to a remote compute resource from VS Code, you can:
- Run and debug Python scripts and notebooks, executing directly on the remote instance
- Experiment and train models on the remote instance
- Traverse the remote file system
- Invoke commands in a remote terminal
- Clone and manage git repositories on the remote machine
Quick Start

- Navigate to Microsoft Foundry, choose your project, select the Build tab in the top right, then "Train" in the left navigation.
- Select an existing workbench and choose "Open in VS Code" or create a new workbench.
- Foundry Training Workbench will be used to set up your connection automatically.
