See your Coalesce pipeline as a DAG, right inside VS Code. Coalesce Viewer reads the YAML your Coalesce repo already has checked in and turns it into a live, filterable graph — no need to leave your editor or open the Coalesce app just to see how things connect.
Unofficial. This is an independent, community-built tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or supported by Coalesce.io. "Coalesce" is a trademark of its respective owner, referenced here only to describe compatibility.
Features
- DAG view — a pan/zoom graph of every node in your repo, laid out automatically and colored by
node type, with edges drawn from the real dependencies Coalesce records (column lineage, explicit
multi-source mappings, and
ref()references). - Include / Exclude filtering — narrow the graph live with a small, dbt-inspired query language: jump to a node's whole upstream or downstream tree, filter by tag/type/location, or glob-match by name. See Selector syntax below.
- Side panel navigation — browse every node grouped by type, jump straight to one, and open its YAML with a click.
- Subgraphs — the subgraphs you've already grouped in Coalesce itself show up as one-click filters, so you can pull up just the "Customer Pipeline" or "Order Pipeline" slice of the DAG instantly.
- Show Changed Nodes — filter the graph down to exactly what your current branch has added or modified, committed or not. A quick way to see what a branch or PR actually touches before you open a review.
- Always current — the graph refreshes automatically as node and subgraph YAML change on disk.

Include/Exclude fields accept one or more space/comma-separated selectors; results are unioned.
| Selector | Matches |

Node named ORDERS (case-insensitive) |
STG_* |
Glob match on node name |
+ORDERS |
ORDERS and all of its ancestors (upstream) |
ORDERS+ |
ORDERS and all of its descendants (downstream) |
+ORDERS+ |
ORDERS plus ancestors and descendants |
2+ORDERS |
ORDERS and ancestors up to 2 hops away |
ORDERS+2 |
ORDERS and descendants up to 2 hops away |
tag:core |
Nodes tagged core |
type:dimension |
Nodes whose node type matches (checks both the display name and the short code) |
location:SAMPLE |
Nodes whose storage location matches |
path:staging/** |
Nodes whose YAML file path (relative to the repo root) matches the glob |
Exclude is applied after include (include - exclude). Leave a field blank to mean "everything"
(include) or "nothing" (exclude).
