WindowScript is a small, beginner-friendly language for making simple desktop windows and games.

Requirements

Install Python 3.8 or newer. WindowScript automatically looks for common Windows Python installations, the py -3 launcher, and python/python3 on your PATH. It does not use or download a Codex runtime.

If Python is installed somewhere else, set WindowScript: Python Path to the interpreter path (or a command such as py -3).

Running a file

Open a .ws file and run WindowScript: Run WindowScript File from the Command Palette or the editor title bar. Use WindowScript: Play Demo Game to run the bundled Star Miner example.

Multiple Windows

Start another window by writing another windowmaker='...' block. Lines after it belong to that new window:

require windowmaker
require buttonmaker

windowmaker='createWindow'
Inside='test'
createButton='button'='button test'

windowmaker='createWindow2'
Inside='test2'
createButton='button2'='button test2'

Sound Windows

Add require soundmaker and put a looping createSound in each window. Sounds run at the same time, so this makes a simple two-window beat:

require windowmaker
require soundmaker

windowmaker='KickWindow'
Inside='Kick'
createSound='kick'=every 1sec

windowmaker='SnareWindow'
Inside='Snare'
createSound='snare'=every 1sec after 0.5sec

Available sounds are kick, snare, hihat, clap, tom, and tone. Timings support ms and sec; use after to offset a window's first hit.
