Features

• Full Winamp experience — the real Winamp 2.x UI powered by Webamp, including equalizer, playlist, and visualizer
• Skin support — browse and apply thousands of classic Winamp skins from the Winamp Skin Museum with one click
• Web radio — curated stations (SomaFM, Nightride, Lofi Girl, Classic FM) loaded directly into the playlist
• Custom stream URLs — paste any .mp3, .ogg, .m3u, or .pls stream URL and it lands in the Winamp playlist
• Local files — load MP3, OGG, WAV, FLAC, AAC, M4A from anywhere on your machine
• Zoom control — scale the player from 0.8× to 2.5× with － and ＋
• Activity Bar — lives in the VS Code sidebar as a persistent panel, not a floating window

Getting Started

1. Install RetroAmp from the VS Code Marketplace
2. Click the 🎵 icon in the Activity Bar (left sidebar)
3. The player opens with a curated radio playlist already loaded

Load local music

Click ADD → select your audio files → they appear in the Winamp playlist.

Listen to web radio

The playlist loads with curated stations automatically. To add a custom stream:

1. Click RADIO
2. Paste a stream URL (e.g. https://ice2.somafm.com/groovesalad-128-mp3)
3. Press GO or Enter → track appears in the Winamp playlist

Change skins

1. Click SKIN
2. Browse the skin gallery or search by name
3. Click any skin to apply it instantly

About Skins

RetroAmp loads skins directly from the Internet Archive — over 100,000 classic Winamp skins are available. No Winamp code or assets are used; the skin engine is provided by Webamp (MIT).
