Right-click any file in the VS Code Explorer → Duplicate → creates a copy right next to it, named <file> (copy).<ext>, <file> (copy 2).<ext>, and so on. Works on multi-selected files too.

Usage

  1. Right-click a file (or select several, then right-click).
  2. Click Duplicate.
  3. The copy opens automatically (toggle via the duplicateFile.openAfterDuplicate setting).

Install

npx @vscode/vsce package
code --install-extension duplicate-file-0.0.1.vsix

Reload VS Code after installing.
