Create multiple child tasks directly from a User Story in one step — with automatic area path, iteration, and user assignment.
What it does
When you open a User Story in Azure Boards, a "Create Child Tasks" button appears in the work item form. Clicking it opens a full-page dialog where you can:
- Add as many task rows as you need
- Assign each task to a project team member (searchable dropdown)
- Set original estimate and remaining hours per task
- Create all tasks in one click
Each task is automatically created with:
- Area Path — inherited from the parent User Story
- Iteration — inherited from the parent User Story
- Parent link — linked as a child of the User Story
- Assigned To — set to the user you selected
The button only appears on User Story work items. It is hidden on Bugs, Tasks, Epics, and all other types.
